Inspired by the rich jewellery traditions of Sulawesi, this design pays tribute to one of Indonesia’s most culturally diverse islands.
Stretching between Borneo and the Maluku Islands, Sulawesi has long been home to remarkable artistic traditions. Along its southern coast, the Bugis and Makassarese kingdoms became renowned for producing refined gold jewellery, distinguished by intricate floral motifs, geometric patterns, filigree work and delicate granulation.
Further inland, jewellery took on a different character. Pieces were often larger, heavier and more sculptural, cast in bronze or brass and reflecting ancient indigenous traditions that predate the influence of royal courts.
The EthnoPur Sulawesi Ring draws inspiration from these contrasting styles, combining the elegance of royal ornamentation with the strength and simplicity of traditional forms. Every detail celebrates the craftsmanship of Indonesian silversmiths and the enduring beauty of handmade jewellery.
