Description
Pure silver pendant created combining two of the classic tuareg crosses. The Barchakeia, another of the 21 most typical Tuareg crosses, has two or three projections symmetrically distributed on the sides of the central body. Each of these projections is topped with 3 protuberances shaped like a spiked diamond. Karagha, in Tamashek -the language spoken by the Tuareg-, is the name of the mesh constituting the mattress of a Tuareg bed. The cross structure depicted here resembles its shape, hence the name. In this pendent, both the Karagha and the Barchakeia crosses hang together from a plain ring displaying an interior engraving made by a Tuareg smith from the Azawagh desert.
