South India Pendant by Ethnopur
Inspired by traditional bridal earrings from South India, this pendant reinterprets a design that has been admired for generations.
In many regions of South India, elongated earlobes were once regarded as symbols of beauty, prosperity and social status. To achieve this elegant form, young women gradually stretched their earlobes using carefully rolled palm leaves that expanded naturally when moistened, allowing the process to take place slowly and comfortably.
These distinctive ornaments became an important part of ceremonial jewellery, combining elaborate craftsmanship with powerful cultural symbolism.
The EthnoPur South India Pendant faithfully preserves the essence of the original bridal earring. The richly ornamented upper section, decorated with delicate spirals and granulation, has been reimagined as the pendant’s suspension. The original hollow lower element is transformed into a natural Rose Quartz, adding softness and colour while maintaining the harmony of the historic design.
Every detail honours the artistry of South Indian silversmiths, creating a contemporary jewel deeply rooted in tradition.
“Beauty endures when craftsmanship preserves tradition.”
