Karagha + Barchakeia Cross Pendant

Description

This impressive pendant combines two traditional Tuareg cross designs in a beautifully balanced vertical composition. The Barchakeia, another of the 21 most typical Tuareg crosses, has two or three projections symmetrically distributed on the sides of the central body. Each of these projections is topped with 3 protuberances shaped like a spiked diamond, and the Karagha, in Tamashek -the language spoken by the Tuareg-, is the name of the mesh constituting the mattress of a Tuareg bed. The cross structure depicted here resembles its shape, hence the name.

In this pendent, both the Karagha and the Barchakeia crosses hang together from a plain ring displaying an interior engraving made by a Tuareg smith from the Azawagh desert.

Measuring approximately 80 x 65 mm and weighing around 44 grams, this impressive pendant is designed to stand out.
