Inspiration: The first golden adornments in the Northern Countries came from the European continent, about 4000 years ago. They must have been something very unusual, curious and unique. Up until that time, adornments in the North had been made of bones, wood or amber. GoLd was scARCe at first. Big pieces of jewellery were hollow or filled with other materials, such as resin. During the Roman era, when availability of the precious metal increased, massive and heavy pieces of solid gold were crafted. eThnoPur’s InSPirAtion is an aRtiFAcT found in Fullerö in Uppland (Sweden). It is a ring entirely made of gold, shaped like a shield, with a precious, large and oval stone in the middle. These kind of rings possibly were a reward for bravery in battle, given to foreign legionnaires of the Roman Army.
